At the June 1 Newcomers Alumnae monthly luncheon held at Marsh Landing Country Club, master of ceremonies Donna Berger introduced the newly inducted executive board of directors for the fiscal period 2022-24.

Luncheon attendees enthusiastically welcomed the new executive board, which consists of Co-Presidents Clara Wittmann and Margie Hesser, Vice President Martha Armistead, Treasurer Suanne Goldberger, Recording Secretary Nancy Scott and Corresponding Secretary Debbie Condit.

This year’s luncheon theme was Dr. Seuss’ “Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!” as a motivational ode to all the wondrous things one can think about when taking on leadership.  Additionally, the outgoing president (Maria Woodford) and the outgoing board were presented with Dr. Seuss-themed gifts and honored for serving tirelessly throughout the difficult and challenging pandemic.

In the coming months, this group will be promoting the organization’s new name: Coastal Friends. During the summer hiatus, the administrative tasks necessary to change over to the new name will be tackled by the new board of directors. Also, the new board will move forward with scheduling many social events and outings for the upcoming year.

While the club does not hold luncheons in July and August, monthly luncheons will resume in September under its new name Coastal Friends. For additional information on the club and membership, email brookemeister@msn.com.

Coastal Friends, formerly Newcomers Alumnae, was formed in 1998 as a social club for women who reside in Ponte Vedra Beach, Nocatee, Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, St. Augustine and the surrounding area. Some of the activities offered are adventures and outings, book club, bunco, canasta, happy hour, lunch out, mahjongg and wine socials.
