Ocean Palms Elementary School sped past its fundraising goal of $50,000, by raising nearly $100,000, at this year’s Otter Run, which took place on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

Students raced in themed class teams that included “101 Dalmatians,” tie-dyed racers, superheroes, stars and even sharks, among others, to raise funds to enhance the school’s technology, as well as to add a little fitness and fun with the purchase of a putting green.

Phil Squatrito of Training for Warriors, motivated students, while leading them through stretches and warmups at the event.

The tremendous outpouring of support from families and the community made this event a success. Students got to celebrate this success by dressing up, yes again, for “Wacky Day.”

The students’ big finish was achieved the same way they completed each lap of the track — by working together, having fun and putting one foot in front of the other.
