Ocean Palms PTO seeks to update aging play structure

Posted

The PTO at Ocean Palms Elementary School is swinging into the new school year with a goal that will keep children grounded in play. The plan — to raise approximately $150,000 this year from school families, corporate sponsors, grants and generous community members to replace the current 15-year-old play structure that serves the more than 600 students at the school.

The play structure, which provides much-needed mental breaks, stress reduction and important physical exercise for students, is a big part of the children’s school day. So, the PTO is sliding in with a grass-roots fundraising campaign. If the fundraising goal is reached this year, a new playground will be installed in summer 2020.
