True to its theme, this year’s Otter Run at Ocean Palms Elementary School, was marked by a series of events, just like the 16 days of the Olympics, that brought this team of teachers, staff, students and parents together to raise $60,000 to enrich student, teacher and staff experiences at the school.
Ollie, the otter, had an Olympic send off at the school’s open house, where families bore witness to class flags that adorned the hallways for the opening ceremonies. Then, as school-wide fundraising goals were met along the way, students enjoyed crazy hair day, a DJ at recess, dunking administration, teacher sumo wrestling and, finally, an inflatable at recess. Not to mention the pep rally, where teachers participated as teams in a series of games in a finale that was almost too close to call!
Finally, students took this Olympic adventure to the finish line at the Otter Run on Oct. 22. Dressed to impress with class-themed costumes ranging from the minions to goldfish, sharks and superheroes, it was a sight to behold, if only in a blur.
Sponsored by Fishman Pediatric Dentistry, this event brought Olympic spirit to life at Ocean Palms.
