Both Ocean Palms and PVPV/Rawlings elementary schools hosted special events recently to welcome both new and returning students to the start of another school year.

Ocean Palms Elementary held its annual “Meet the Teacher” event at the start of the school’s 20th year, as Jessica Richardson began her third year as principal. Students and their families were welcomed by their former teachers, met their new teachers and visited informational tables staffed by Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) volunteers. The PTO also organized a book fair, school spirit apparel boutique, school supply purchases and more.

PVPV/Rawlings Elementary and the school’s PTO also hosted a “Meet the Teacher” event during which students and families met with their new teachers ahead of the school year, featuring tables set up highlighting volunteer opportunities and PTO-hosted events. The PTO donated student planners to all third to fifth grade students and newly designed “spirit wear” featuring the sea turtle logo was available to order.

On Monday, Aug. 15, both Ocean Palms and PVPV/Rawlings elementary schools held their annual “BooHoo WooHoo” breakfast and coffee events for new parents.

At PVPV/Rawlings, Principal Catherine Van Housen welcomed the parents and spoke about the school. PTO President Emily Stephens thanked the parents who attended and helped coordinate the event while welcoming new parents to the PVPV/Rawlings family, noting that the intention of the event was to make the transition into the school year easier.

At Ocean Palms Elementary, food was provided by Chick-fil-A, one of the school’s Partners in Education. Members of the PTO also shared information with the new students' parents, including an invitation to the upcoming British Tea Party, tickets for which can be purchased at www.oceanpalmselementaryschoolpto.wildapricot.org
