More than 50 local artists will exhibit their works at the Plein Air member exhibition, to be held July 22 through Sep. 2 at The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach.

Presented by First Coast Plein Air Painters, the exhibition will feature works in oil, pastel, acrylic and watercolor that capture the beauty of Northeast Florida and the southeastern United States.

“Working in the true traditionalist style of plein air, which means ‘in open air,’ members of our group have worked to capture the unique beauty of the land and seascapes found in this area,” First Coast Plein Air Painters President Randy Pitts said. “What you will see during our annual show and sale are examples of some of the best plein air works that truly showcase the natural beauty and character of our area.”

The member exhibition is the biggest event of the year for the painters’ group, which includes members from Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Southeastern Georgia. The group also offers monthly plein air painting opportunities, programs, demonstrations and workshops.

“We welcome anyone who is interested in painting outdoors to join us,” Pitts said. “Anyone wanting more information can contact us at randypitts@comcast.net.”

The show’s opening reception will be held Friday, July 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Scene Gallery at The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach, 50 Executive Way. Scene Gallery hours are: Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. After hour appointments are available.
