Rotary District 6970 recognized several members of the Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach last week for their charitable giving, presenting them with Rotary International’s prestigious Paul Harris Fellow designation.

Named in honor of the founder of Rotary International, the Paul Harris Fellow recognizes a Rotarian who has personally donated $1,000 to Rotary’s humanitarian and charitable endeavors, which include efforts to eradicate polio worldwide. District 6970 Governor-elect Jeff Michelman visited Ponte Vedra Beach to present the honors, which included numerous awards for Rotarians who had given multiple $1,000 donations to Rotary.

Award recipients at the meeting included: Donna Guzzo and Susan Mack; Paul Harris +1: Kelly Barrera, Chris Eckols, Bill Haley, Todd Hickey and George McCaughan; Paul Harris +2: Robert Franskousky, Sherry Mahoney and Mary Anne Thomas; Paul Harris +5: Paul Cosgrave and President-elect Ron “Doc” Renuart; and Paul Harris +8: Ashley Dopf.

A special highlight of the ceremony included the presentation of a pin to club President Lori Anderson, recognizing her as a “Major Donor” to Rotary’s charitable humanitarian efforts.

The Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach has a long history of supporting Rotary International through Paul Harris Fellow donations, earning recognition for having 100% of the club’s members participating in the program.
