Ponte Vedra Concert Hall’s transformation has earned top honors from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Jacksonville Chapter, with Fisher | Koppenhafer Architecture and Interior Design receiving the Award of Excellence in the Commercial Built category at its 2026 Design & Honor Awards. Presented Oct. 16, the Award of Excellence represents the AIA Jacksonville Chapter’s highest level of design recognition, celebrating architectural excellence and projects that enrich the built environment.
Led by architect Mike Koppenhafer, the renovation and reimagining ushered in Ponte Vedra Concert Hall’s new era in August 2025. The project brought together architectural design, advanced performance technology and enhanced hospitality to elevate the artist and audience experience while preserving the intimate atmosphere that has long defined the venue.
“This recognition reflects the shared vision, care and expertise that so many people brought to Ponte Vedra Concert Hall,” said Gabe Pellicer, CEO and president of SJC Cultural Events, Inc., the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. “When the design, sound and atmosphere come together in a way that just feels right, you know you’ve created something special for artists and audiences. We’re grateful to Mike Koppenhafer and the Fisher | Koppenhafer team, St. Johns County, Friends of Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, our construction and technical teams and our dedicated staff for bringing that vision to life.”
“From the beginning, our goal was to preserve the intimacy and charm that make the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall so special while thoughtfully enhancing its ability to serve the community,” said Mike Koppenhafer, president of Fisher | Koppenhafer Architecture and Interior Design. “We wanted to honor the character of the original building and ensure it remained a welcoming, intimate gathering place where people could come together through music, arts and shared experiences. This project was about more than expanding a venue; it was about celebrating the spirit of a community space and creating an environment that will continue to bring people together for years to come.”
Ponte Vedra Concert Hall reopened on Aug. 1, 2025, following a comprehensive $12.9-million renovation. Enhancements included a new second-floor balcony, expanded seating options, outdoor terraces, an expanded lobby and modernized artist and guest amenities. Upgraded lighting and production capabilities, an advanced L-Acoustics sound system and chef-curated food and beverage offerings further transformed the live experience.
The architectural honor follows international recognition earlier this year, when Ponte Vedra Concert Hall was named among four venues worldwide in the Concert Hall category of the 2026 MONDO-DR Awards, recognizing excellence in audio, lighting, video, acoustics and systems integration. It was the only venue in the Americas to receive the distinction, joining Sydney Opera House, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Biwako Hall in Japan.
