The Ponte Vedra Lady Sharks lacrosse team (13-3) defeated Nease (8-9) 16-5 on Tuesday in the first round of the District 5 playoffs at Creekside High School.
The Lady Sharks came out strong and never looked back against the Panthers. After the first half, Ponte Vedra was ahead 10-2. The Sharks continued the pressure in the second half.
Sophomore attack Taylor Rocha led the team with six goals, two draw controls and six groundballs. Sophomore midfielder Megan Rolison had three goals, four draw controls and two groundballs, while sophomore midfielder Sami Lowinger contributed three goals and one groundball.
Junior goalkeeper Lexie de Roziere continued her strong play between the pipes stopping 10 Panthers shots.
According to MaxPreps, the Lady Sharks are ranked No. 3 in the state of Florida and No. 19 in the country.
Ponte Vedra will play Bartram Trail in the District 5 Championship on Thursday, April 18 at Creekside High School.
