Ponte Vedra Wellness Center will host a Florida Fall Festival and Wellness Expo from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 to celebrate 15 years of operation at the Beach. The free event, in cooperation with Center State Bank, will be held outside the Ponte Vedra Beach office on Corridor Road, and is a Ponte Vedra Beach Division of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce After Hours event.

In addition to a great party offering food, drinks, games and music, this year’s event features a Wellness Expo showcasing a variety of health and wellness resource providers serving the Beaches communities. Vendors will offer a complimentary item, service or special offer, such as chair massages, postural screenings, fitness evaluations and more. Food and drinks will be provided by local businesses such as Trasca, Noodle Ramen & Dumpling and St. Augustine Distillery and local nonprofit Peace of Heart will bring samples from their organic farm to share as well. Raffle tickets will be sold to benefit local nonprofit The HEAL Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping to enrich autistic lives and raffle prizes will include overnight get-aways, gift certificates to local restaurants and fitness memberships, wellness baskets, all donated by local businesses.

“I really feel like this year is a milestone – this practice has grown so much over the past 15 years and seen a variety changes,” owner Dr. Erika Hamer said. “From the beginning, I have always considered it to be a great honor for me to be able to positively impact the health of so many and contribute in a positive way to their wellbeing. This practice has always enjoyed a very significant retention rate of patients and now, after years, I am treating the children of people I saw when I first opened. In fact just recently, I adjusted the newborn baby of someone I began seeing when they were in middle school. They had been brought in by their parents, who were patients. I also treated the parent’s parents — so in just one family I have been able to treat four generations – an incredible honor.”

There have been a lot of significant changes since opening in 2004, she said. The practice outgrew the first office and moved into the space on Corridor Road in 2010 – and that has been remodeled twice since then. That same year they added Spinal Decompression to the list of therapies. In 2012, they formed the Ponte Vedra Training Company to be able to offer physician supervised personal fitness programs to patients and in 2016 they opened our office in Nocatee Town Center to expand wellness services into that community.

“I have seen a number of changes in my personal life as well – getting married in 2008 and now raising two children with my husband,” Hamer said.

The vision Hamer had when she first opened was to create a practice that would treat the wellness needs of the entire family – infants to seniors – and then build an atmosphere where patients become like family so that the practice would become an integral part of the community at large.
