The FWA Ponte Vedra Writers meeting will host Walter Schenck Jr. April 27 for a workshop titled, “How to Correctly Format a Stage Play.”
To be held at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, Schenck’s presentation will illustrate how to adhere to precise mathematical measurements of writing a stage play acceptable by all producers. Among the subjects covered will be:
• How to open an act followed by scenes
• How to construct the play in a precise manner with character indicators, dialogue and action placements
• How to use Microsoft Word application to create the stage play versus using Final Draft
Schenck is a multiple award-winning author honored for his novels, his poetry and his stage plays. His novels and writing style have been compared to Hermann Hesse, James A. Michener and Walter Wangerin. His existential novel, “The Birdcatcher,” which uses the Vietnam War as a backdrop, achieved "Feature Author" status in Publishers Weekly, as well as outstanding critical acclaim in Kirkus Book Reviews. Schenck’s play, “Hamlet, Reimagined,” won the top prize in its category in the 2018 Royal Palm Literary Awards competition.
