The Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church was the place to be Thursday, March 25, for one of the biggest art events of the year: the Promisetown Preschool Art Show.
One hundred and eight children between the ages of 1 and 6 exhibited countless works of art they did themselves. Each piece was accompanied by a photo showing the young artist at work.
Thursday night, parents were able to visit and see their children’s completed art projects. A variety of media was represented. There were paintings, silhouettes, three-dimensional constructions and flowers pressed between wax paper sheets to resemble stained glass. Images were painted with brushes, sheets of bubble wrap, plastic flowers and fingers.
The show was scheduled to coincide with “Spirit Week,” a time for fundraising and celebration. The show is held every March. Because of the difficulties arising from COVID-19, this was the first time the school was able to hold a large event on its campus this year.
“We’re excited to have everyone here,” said parent Samantha Boyle, who works in the office. “This lets parents see what the kids do in the classroom.”
To facilitate social distancing, the show was moved into a series of hallways this year. Families could walk through to view the art. Also, visitors were asked to wear masks.
