In celebration of the back-to-school season, the children at Primrose School on Crosswater Parkway cheerfully donated more than 1,000 school supplies to St. Johns Cares.

In addition to school supplies, donations included food items, personal hygiene items and jackets for underserved families in St. Johns County.

At Primrose, give-back initiatives are not just seasonal, they are an important part of the curriculum. Niki Lamar and Valerie Green, education coaches at Primrose, explained how students learn to help the community by participating in various give-back initiatives, including an annual Caring and Giving Food Drive where children complete chores to earn money in order to purchase donations for local food banks.

During Primrose Promise Giving events, students learn the importance of engaging with their communities and the value of giving, sharing and caring. At Primrose, developing these values is a cornerstone of early education.

Lamar and Green explained that “the first five years are critical in shaping a child’s character and values. At Primrose, we help children develop compassion and empathy early on. When children learn to give without expecting anything in return, they begin to understand the power of kindness and service.”

The children at Primrose get to experience the joy of giving firsthand and understand the value of making a positive impact on their community. As they grow, they continue to grow in responsibility and seek to help others.

By implementing character development into daily learning, Primrose fosters generosity that will last a lifetime!
