PVHS cross country teams advance to regionals

The Ponte Vedra High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams advance to the regionals in Gainesville this week after their strong performance at the 3A District 4 meet.

Held Oct. 23 at Ponte Vedra High School, the meet included nine teams competing for the four spots to advance to the regionals. Ponte Vedra High School Varsity Boys Cross Country were led by Mark Davey, who ran his fastest race in his high school career with a time of 16.40 minutes and finished 10th overall. The PVHS XC Boys took the final and coveted 4th team place to advance.

The girls’ race started with Claire Moritz taking out the pace and never looking back. She came home in first place in 18.26 minutes, setting a new course and personal record. The Ponte Vedra High School Varsity Girls took the overall team win with seven PVHS runners placing in the top 13.  

Following the meet, the Ponte Vedra High School Cross Country team held a brief ceremony to celebrate its seniors.
