Riverwood Writer’s Group to host ‘Florida Fling Writer’s Conference’

The Riverwood Writer’s Group will host the Florida Fling Writer’s Conference Saturday, March 25 at the Anastasia Clubhouse in Del Webb, located at 1775 River Run Blvd. in Ponte Vedra.

A program of the International Women’s Writing Guild (IWWG), the conference will feature writers from across the nation. The creative writing retreat will begin at 9 a.m. with registration and continental breakfast. At 10 a.m., IWWG Instructor Judy Huge will present “Making More of Memoir: Tools for Drawing Readers to and into Your Nonfiction Writing” – a workshop designed to provide both new and experienced writers with practical tools and personal advice for adding depth to their nonfiction writing.

A catered lunch and book fair will begin at 12:15 p.m., followed by “Writing Truth and Beauty: Using Your Personal Photos for Creative Writing in Poetry and Prose” at 1:45 p.m. Presented by IWWG Instructor Kelly DuMar, the workshop will encourage participants to write creatively from personal photos. At 4:15 p.m., open readings will be held.

The registration fee is $95 for members, $120 non-members, $45 for students and includes lunch. Also available is a new member special rate of $135, which includes the conference registration fee and $55 annual membership dues. To register, visit www.iwwg.org/events.
