Posted

St. Augustine’s Romanza Festivale of the Arts will return to the oldest city May 5-14 with a packed schedule of events, including four headlining attractions throughout the ten-day celebration of art, music and culture.

Gamble Rogers Music Festival

Kicking off the series of headlining events is the 22nd annual Gamble Rogers Music Festival from May 5-7. “Gamblefest” will take place at St. Augustine’s Colonial Quarter located at 22 Saint George St. and will feature four stages showcasing local musicians in addition to regional and national performers. This annual celebration honors the late James Gamble Rogers IV, a singer, songwriter and storyteller who died in 1991 as he tried to rescue a man from drowning. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door for the weekend or $10 per day. Students and visitors 18 and under are admitted free. Kaleidoscope of DANCE

Following the Gamble Rogers Music Festival is the Romanza Kaleidoscope of DANCE, a regional talent showcase of the local dancers, on May 9 at 7:30 p.m. To be held in the Lewis Auditorium of Flagler College, the show features talent of all styles, including ballroom, hip hop, tap and aerial dancing. The Kaleidoscope of DANCE will be directed by Judy Woodruff, and the lineup will see dancers from St. Augustine, Palm Coast and Ponte Vedra during its third year. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for students with ID and free for children under 12.

Lomazov-Rackers Piano Duo

The Lomazov-Rackers Piano Duo will perform at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine Thursday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. The prize-winning duo, comprised of Marina Lomazov and Joseph Rackers, have performed throughout several countries. Both pianists hold a doctor of musical arts degree in piano performance from the Eastman School of Music in addition to serving on the piano faculty of the University of South Caroline School of Music. Tickets for their performance are $25 for adults, $5 for students with ID and free for children 12 and under.

Romanza Festivale Harry Potter Event

Capping the series of headlining events off will be the Romanza Festivale Harry Potter Event at Francis Field May 13 from noon to 8 p.m. This expansive, interactive event will feature an appearance by actor Chris Rankin, best known as the character Percy Weasley from the “Harry Potter” films. Rankin will sign autographs and take photos throughout the day. In addition to the celebrity appearance, the event will feature a sorting hat, shops on Diagon Alley, butter beer, quidditch games, a Hogwarts Express train and hourly shows by magician Andrew Ratliff. Tickets are $5 at the gate and $4 online. Children 3 and under are free. For a full schedule or to purchase tickets, visit www.romanzafestivale.com.

The festival will also feature a host of music, dance, theater, art and cuisine events, among them performances from the Chamber Music Series and Young Performers Series; tours of local historic monuments such as the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Spanish Military Hospital Museum; wine tastings at The Gifted Cork; visual arts exhibits including the Gilded: Impressions of the Flagler Era at the St. Augustine Art Association; and theater performances of “Love Letters” and “When Florida was the Wild West.”
