The Saint Augustine Yacht Club Sailing Center has announced that U.S. Sailing has named it the recipient of the 2025 Outstanding Community Sailing Program Award, a national honor recognizing leadership and commitment to expanding public access to sailing.
This recognition reflects more than a decade of dedication by the Yacht Club’s members, the Sailing Director Marissa Burrier and the many donors, volunteers, families and young sailors who have helped grow the program throughout St. Augustine and North Florida.
A key factor in this recognition is the Sailing Center’s commitment to offering programs that are open to the public, creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn, participate and connect with the waterways.
Originally rooted in the club’s youth sailing program, the Sailing Center became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2023 and has since expanded into a year-round program offering youth and adult instruction, after-school programs, racing opportunities and community outreach.
Thanks to the generosity of Drs. Stanley and Catherine Paris and continued community support, a new Sailing Center facility is nearing completion. The facility will include instructional spaces, expanded storage, ADA-accessible restrooms, and an operational floating dock that improves safe access to the water.
With this national recognition and a new home, the Saint Augustine Yacht Club Sailing Center is poised to expand its mission-connecting more people to sailing and strengthening its role as a vital community resource for years to come.
