Letters mailed to Saint Nick through the box to receive responses

First Coast children seeking to send their Christmas lists to Santa Claus may post them at the new Santa’s mailbox in Sawgrass Village.

To be ocated on the Sawgrass Village green next to Nona Blue, the mailbox will be in place by Nov. 19 and will accept letters to Old Saint Nick through Dec. 16. What’s more, letters mailed to Santa that include a return address will receive a personal response thanks to a special arrangement the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce has made with the North Pole.

“We want to make sure all the kids here in sunny Florida can get their messages to the North Pole on time, so we arranged for this special mailbox,” said Lin Jones, director of the chamber’s Ponte Vedra Beach Division. “We’re especially excited that kids will receive a response to their letters, so don’t delay, kids! Get working on those Christmas lists and mail them at Santa’s mailbox today!”

In addition to cards and letters from boys and girls on Santa’s “Nice” list, the mailbox will also accept heartfelt letters of apology from children who suspect their behavior this year may have landed them on the “Naughty” list.

“First Coast kids are so nice we don’t expect to receive many of those,” Jones said. “We’re just looking forward to helping kids share their Christmas wishes with Santa and enjoy the holiday season!”
