It’s an exciting time for the SenioRITAs at Sawgrass. This year marks the 20th anniversary of their efforts to provide funding for research, education, equipment and patient care programs through the SenioRITAs at Sawgrass Women’s Tennis Tournament. Events begin with a kickoff party at Pusser’s Restaurant on Oct. 2, followed by a Live & Silent Auction Dinner Party on Oct. 14 at Sawgrass Beach Club, and conclude with the three-day Tennis Tournament Oct. 18–20, at the Sawgrass Tennis Center.
The three-day tennis tournament features nearly 300 women from Florida, Southeast Georgia and several other states. The net proceeds of the 2018 event were $205,225—a new record and testimony to the commitment and efforts of supporters, contributors, participants and volunteers.
The Women’s Doubles Tennis Tournament benefits breast cancer research at Mayo Clinic and patient services at Baptist Medical Center Beaches.
Breast cancer strikes 1 in 8 women and the group wants researchers to find a cure. With help, we can fight this terrible disease and make a difference in the community. SenioRITAs is a true community outreach effort. Since the establishment of the RITA (Research Is The Answer) Foundation Charity for breast cancer challenges, a total of $5,073,579 has been donated to local medical organizations. Because the group is an all-volunteer organization, 100% of the proceeds go to Mayo Clinic and Baptist Medical Center Beaches.
To get involved, attend the events, which area open to the public, or become a sponsor, which allows companies and individuals to be prominently featured at the auction party and at the three-day tournament at Sawgrass Country Club. Donations toward the Memorial Fund will honor family or friends who have been stricken with this devastating disease.
