Sophros Recovery has announced its expansion of services with Breakthroughs Counseling, a group outpatient mental health facility, increasing access to in-person and virtual behavioral health services across Jacksonville at a time of growing need in the state.
The merger increases access to counseling services in a community facing persistent gaps in high-quality, client-centered care. Florida continues to experience significant provider shortages in the behavioral health field, resulting in long waitlists and limited access to timely treatment. These barriers are linked to worsening mental health outcomes, including increased crisis episodes, untreated substance use disorders and strain on emergency services.
“Mental health care works best before a crisis,” said Nick Padlo, CEO of Sophros Recovery. “Preventive care saves lives, but access remains limited. This expansion allows us to expand high quality, in-person and virtual mental health services in Jacksonville and throughout Florida virtually.”
The center will be led by Sophros Recovery staff member, Jackie Ivey, who will serve as clinical director.
“Client-centered care happens when clinical work is supported with intention, clients feel seen and growth is encouraged at every level,” Ivey said.
Breakthroughs offers individual, couples, family, military and first responders counseling, along with a range of specialty services. These include LGBTQ-affirming counseling, addiction and substance use specialization as well as trauma-informed care.
To celebrate the merging of the two companies, Sophros Recovery is hosting a grand re-opening party, open to the public from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at 3810 Williamsburg Park Blvd., Ste. 3, Jacksonville. There will be an official ribbon-cutting alongside food, tours and a chance to discuss available services.
