The Sporting Jax men’s team was on the road Friday, July 3, against Loudoun United FC.

Sporting Jax got on the board first, but the match ultimately ended in a 2-2 draw.

Kieran Sadlier scored the opening goal for Sporting Jax at the end of the first half when he scored from the left side of the box.

Sporting Jax led 1-0 for most of the second half, but Loudoun United managed to find the back of the net with less than 10 minutes left. With the score tied 1-1, the referee added four minutes of stoppage time and Loudoun United scored again in the 91st minute.

Jacksonville’s Emil Jääskeläinen was able to find the back of the net in the 93rd minute to end the game in a 2-2 draw.

Sporting Jax will return to Hodges Stadium on July 15 with a new addition to the roster. The club signed defender Danny Wilson on July 6.

Wilson began his career as a Rangers FC youth product, elevating to the senior team before joining the English Premier League’s Liverpool FC.

“Danny has an excellent pedigree and has demonstrated his quality at the Premier League level. He brings experience and leadership skills alongside his evident playing ability,” said Sporting Jax President of Soccer Mark Warburton.

As Head Coach Liam Fox continues to navigate his team’s inaugural season, he is looking forward to adding a veteran presence to the back line.

“Danny brings a wealth of soccer experience, having featured for some big soccer clubs and in a high pressure and high-performance environments,” said Fox.

The men’s team will face Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at Hodges Stadium on July 15 at 7:30 p.m.
