With support from Old Town Trolley Tours and Ripley’s Red Train Tours, the city of St. Augustine will once again offer a free park-and-ride shuttle Monday, July 4, during “Fireworks Over the Matanzas.”

The shuttles will run from 6 p.m. to midnight, operating out of select parking locations along Anastasia Boulevard. They are:

  • Anastasia Baptist Church, 1650 A1A South
  • Augustine Amphitheater, 1340-C A1A South
  • B. Hunt Elementary School, 125 Magnolia Drive
  • Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park, 999 Anastasia Blvd. Note that this is a parking location only. To access the shuttle, those using this lot will have to cross Anastasia Boulevard to R.B. Hunt Elementary School via the lighted crosswalk.

Meanwhile, for those on the west side of the bay, parking in city-owned lots and in on-street spaces is free. This doesn’t pertain to the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument lot or the Historic Downtown Parking Facility.

The latter, at 1 Cordova St., offers parking for $15 per car, per entry. For those with the ParkNow Card, the charge is $3.

Furthermore, there will be no access to the Castillo lot between 6 p.m. and about 11 p.m.

Motorists are cautioned not to park in a private lot, as towing may be enforced by the owner.

Rerouting of traffic on city streets begins at 8 p.m. At that time, vehicular traffic will be prohibited on the Bridge of Lions, Avenida Menendez, South Castillo Drive and Cathedral Place. Traffic is expected to resume on the bridge at about 11 p.m.

Additional street closures and changes include:

  • Picolata Road between U.S. 1 and San Marco Avenue (closed 8-11 p.m.)
  • San Carlos between U.S. 1 and San Marco Avenue (closed 8-11 p.m.)
  • King Street will have two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane west of MLK Boulevard. (8-11:30 p.m.)
  • King Street will have one westbound lane and one eastbound lane east of MLK Boulevard up to Avenida Menendez.
  • There will be no eastbound traffic on West Castillo Drive from U.S. 1 to North Cordova Street (8-11:30 p.m.)
  • North Cordova Street will be closed from Orange Street to Historic Downtown Parking Facility entrance. (8-11 p.m.)
