St. Johns County Fire Rescue decreases lifeguard staffing levels

Posted

Effective Sept. 6, St. Johns County Fire Rescue has decreased lifeguard staffing levels on all St. Johns County Beaches. The Labor Day Holiday traditionally marks the end of the summer beach season, and it will conclude the seasonal tower staffing provided annually.

Although lifeguard towers will no longer be staffed, mobile truck patrols supplemented by career Fire Rescue staff will continue through the various beach zones through September 2016.

Beach patrons are reminded to utilize the 911 system for any emergency occurring on SJC beaches. These emergencies will continue to receive a 24-hour Fire Rescue emergency response throughout the year.
