On Sept. 22, Starling at Nocatee Assisted Living and Memory Care hosted a special event for their residents. K9s for Warriors and Starling partnered together to bring the residents an event, “Doggie in the Window.”

In light of the pandemic, many residents are following strict social distancing guidelines and have been stuck inside for months, unable to have social experiences or interact with the outside world. Starling wanted to show its love for their residents, and by partnering with K9s for Warriors they were able to spread cheer throughout their facility and provide their residents with a safe and joyful experience.

Trainers with K9s for Warriors, accompanied by several of their furry friends, went to the Starling facilities and visited the residents through the windows so that the Starling community could experience a fun, socially distanced time with the animals.

“It is a great way to bring our communities together,” said Megan Kennedy, vice president of Operations at Starling. “We are all living in unique times and our Starling team works hard to organize exciting and safe events like this for our seniors. We know a happy dog and a loving owner can bring joy to everyone around.”

Many residents at the Starling facilities are veterans themselves, and this experience added an extra special component for these individuals. September was national suicide awareness month, and K9s for Warriors was honored to provide an act of love and service to the veterans at Starling through this event.

Although the pandemic is a stressful time, Starling’s partnership with K9s for Warriors allowed the residents to experience a few moments of precious cheer during a dark and isolated age.
