One day, my mom had asked me to play mahjong, and I wasn’t quite sure what it was.
She decided to sit down and teach me over and over again until I finally got it. Since then, I’ve loved the game but what I loved even more was the creativity and details that go into the designs of the tiles and mats.
After traveling through Eastern Asia, I developed a deep appreciation for mahjong’s roots, and I noticed that while many new designs looked fun and modern, they often lost some of that authentic touch. I wanted to create something different; a brand that brings the best of both worlds together. That’s why I started Rack It! Mahjong and began designing sets that are stylish and fresh, but still hold onto the integrity of the game I fell in love with.
But mahjong is more than just a beautiful game; it’s also incredibly good for the brain. It sharpens memory, focus and problem-solving skills, while encouraging players to think strategically and stay engaged. I think it’s especially important for younger generations to play a game like this, in a world that revolves around screens. Mahjong gives people a way to connect face-to-face, exercise their minds, and build lasting memories with friends and family.
To me, every detail matters, from the materials we use to the way each piece feels in your hands. Rack It! Mahjong is all about building a community where people can enjoy the timeless joy of the game while also strengthening their minds and connections with others.
