This is it! JaxFuse continues with 2 days of creativity

Posted

Northeast Florida’s one-of-a-kind celebration of the creative economy kicked off last weekend with a dynamic and very successful Fashion Day, but the JaxFuse festival is just getting started.

This weekend, Oct. 17-18, will be chock full of diverse creative discoveries for a wide range of tastes, all presented at the link in Nocatee.

Saturday is Food, Art and Music Day and the talents of local chefs, artists and musicians will be the focus.

In the heart of the link’s large common area, artists will exhibit their work and meet art lovers from around Northeast Florida. Here’s an opportunity to discover a new talent and see the world through new eyes.

On the nearby stage, musicians will give the evening rhythm and tempo. For music lovers, this is reason enough to attend the event.

Encircling the space will be the chefs, restaurants and other food makers who will offer attendees a variety of mouth-watering flavors. Early indications hint at Caribbean, Irish and other ethnic foods, selections from the American menu including New England favorites, gourmet cuisine, coffees, pizza, desserts, beverages and more.

Here’s a look at some of those expected to participate:

  • The Blade and Bulldog
  • Velvet Fork Cuisine
  • My Wellness Cuisine LLC
  • Decadent Flavors By Petra
  • Florida Coffee Peddler
  • King of Pops Ponte Vedra

Saturday’s festivities begin at 6 p.m.

The creativity continues Sunday with Film Day, an opportunity for motion picture fans to see what local filmmakers have been working on.

The evening begins at 4:30 p.m. with networking and enjoying food and beverages.

At 5:30 p.m. Monique Madrid, creator of the LOL JAX Film Festival, will deliver the keynote presentation.

Filmmaker Adam Madrid will moderate a panel discussion on the future of independent filmmaking, technology and A.I. storytelling, Jacksonville’s growing film ecosystem and building sustainable creative careers.

For those who aspire to cinematic greatness or who simply have an interest in the silver screen, workshops in four categories will be offered: A.I. & Micro Dramas with creative strategist Tery Spataro, Post-Production Fundamentals with filmmaker Carlos Smith II, Social Justice and Film Making with award-winner Dana Michelle Maule and Creative Expression in Youth with Ivana Barnes.

Perhaps the highlight of the evening will be the dozen or so short films screened in four blocks, beginning at 7 p.m. The films represent a variety of genres, none of which is stronger than what would earn a rating of PG-13.

The night’s program is slated to include a comedy and a film noir from Ben Stone, an action movie from Caleb Lopez, a drama from Jatinder Bhan, three films — two experimental and one A.I. — from Spataro, a drama from Gilles Bovon, a musical from Royce Freeman, a drama from DJ Remark, an action film from Claire Louise Huder, a family film from Aimee Ortiz and a comedy from Anna Vino. Other entries are possible.
