UF Health pediatricians honored

Three pediatricians with the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville have been honored by the Northeast Florida Pediatric Society for their work with children.

Laura Beverly, M.D., was named the society’s Pediatrician of the Year. Asad Tolaymat, M.D., was named Educator of the Year and Daniel Indelicato, M.D., was named Pioneer of Innovation.

Beverly is medical director of the UF Health Pediatrics – Beaches practice. She has practiced pediatrics in Jacksonville Beach since 1991 and has been a UF COMJ faculty member since 2004. She received her medical degree from the University of South Alabama and completed her residency at The Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham.

“I find that watching a child grow and having a long-term relationship with families is very rewarding,” Beverly said. “I’m privileged to be taking care of the children of my former patients now. I have been treating patients in the Beaches area since 1991, so I can provide a medical home for children as they grow and offer long-term intervention by treating the whole child. That is what I love doing.”

Tolaymat is a professor of pediatrics and chief of pediatric nephrology and rheumatology. He received his medical education in Damascus, Syria. His residency and fellowships were completed in Jacksonville.

Indelicato’s focus is pediatric radiation oncology, and he is a key member of the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami and completed his residency in radiation oncology at the UF College of Medicine in Gainesville.

“The recognition of Dr. Beverly, Dr. Tolaymat, and Dr. Indelicato underscores the commitment that the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville has to its missions of caring for the children of Jacksonville, educating the next generation of pediatricians and creating new knowledge that improves children’s health,” said Mark Hudak, M.D., chair of pediatrics at UF COMJ. “They bring experience and passion to our community, and this organization is extremely proud of their accomplishments.”
