Understanding Grief: A virtual program for the newly bereaved

When: 10-11:30 a.m. April 8; 6-7:30 p.m. April 21

Understanding Grief is designed to help people learn that healing is possible after the death of a loved one and there are effective ways to cope with grief and loss.The 90-minute virtual workshop will help attendees:

■ Identify normal responses to loss

■ Identify coping skills that may be helpful

■ Understand the importance of self-care in the grieving process

Understanding Grief is designed to be most helpful for those who have experienced a loss within the last 90 days, and are at least 18 years old. To register, call (904) 407-7001. All Community Hospice & Palliative Care bereavement services are free of charge and are available to anyone in the community for up to 13 months after a loved one’s death.

UNF Opera Program/April Opera Production

When: 8 p.m., April 9 and April 11

 The University of North Florida’s Opera Program is currently preparing to complete a production based on La finta giardiniera April 9 and 11 on UNF’s campus at the Coxwell Pavilion Stage. This will be performed in front of a live audience and live streamed on the UNF Opera YouTube page. Beaches Museum’s ‘Springing the Blooms’

When: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday April 10

Beaches Museum presents “Springing the Blooms” on Saturday, April 10 . Taking place throughout the Museum’s Pablo Historical Park, Springing the Blooms will feature horticultural exhibits, family-friendly activities, educational lectures and live children’s music on the historic Foreman’s House front porch. The event will also feature a gallery exhibit opening.

The new “Celebrate & Explore Our Wilderness Parks” exhibit will be unveiled on April 10 in the Dickinson Gallery inside the Beaches Museum. Reservations will be required, as well as social distancing and masks. Reservations will be scheduled for a specific time period. National Healthcare Decisions Day webinar

April 16 is recognized as National Healthcare Decisions Day. Honoring Choices Florida and Community Hospice & Palliative Care are providing the opportunity to learn more about advance care planning on April 14 and 15.
