St. Johns County has temporarily closed Vilano Beach to vehicular access due to increased erosion and the pending weather conditions.
County officials said that due to the possibility of severe storms – combined with increased erosion, a rising surf and unusually high tides – the beach will be closed to vehicles for the immediate future. Vilano Beach remains open to pedestrian traffic, while Porpoise Point Beach remains accessible to both pedestrians and vehicles.
