Have you been trying to find the right fit sport for a child in the Jacksonville Beaches area? Danny Witt of Witt Tennis, based in Ponte Vedra Beach, has an option for elementary school students. His spring group tennis classes for younger kids, ages 7 to 10, are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. at Cornerstone Park in Ponte Vedra Beach and cost $25 per session.
“This spring, I’m offering one free group lesson for new players to Witt Tennis who have been curious about learning how to play tennis,” said Witt, who has more than 25 years of experience coaching players of all levels in the Jacksonville area.
From now through May 22, Witt Tennis will honor this special introductory offer for new students in this age group only.
“Parents are starting to understand the benefits of their kids playing more than one sport,” Witt said. “Tennis is the perfect life sport. I’m here to develop serious young players with the drive to play competitively, as well as those who want to learn how to keep score, serve and rally, so they can play it for fun with their friends and family for decades to come.”
Tennis also develops footwork, hand-eye coordination and strategy, all things that transfer to improving in other sports.
Trying a group lesson with Witt Tennis has other benefits, including allowing a child to see if they like working with Witt and his other students and coaching assistants. If they enjoy it, next steps could be signing up for school-year group lessons in spring and fall as well as signing up for Witt Tennis Summer Player Development Camp. Since many families travel over the summer and kids have diverse specialty camp interests, Witt Tennis summer camp has some scheduling flexibility. Witt Tennis also provides scheduling flexibility during the school year.
If a free group tennis lesson with Witt Tennis sounds like something your 7- to-10-year-old child would enjoy, you can sign up in advance by emailing info@witttennis.net. Students should bring sturdy sneakers, an appropriately sized tennis racket, water, a hat, sunscreen, a snack and a good attitude.
“Witt Tennis is always happy to meet and greet new faces,” said Witt. “On our courts, it’s great to see kids make new friends, and learn new skills. These are experiences that build confidence and resilience on and off the court.”
