Tucker of St. Johns Golf Club receives award

St. Johns Golf Club Director of Golf Wes Tucker was honored by the Jacksonville Area Golf Association with the 2023 Golf Professional of the Year Award. This award recognizes the long-term commitment and contributions to the association and amateur golf as a whole that Tucker has made.

“It’s an honor because this is from the amateurs, and that is what they think of you, instead of just your peers,” said Tucker.

Tucker has been at the St. Johns Golf Club since it opened in 1989 and has held the position of director of golf since 2001. He was pivotal in helping with the course’s renovation and reopening in 2022. Tucker currently serves as the North Florida Section Chapter president for the Professional Golf Association of America.

Last year, the course had almost 70,000 rounds played by both amateurs and professionals.
