Chemo Noir set to hold inaugural Cycle For Cancer ride

Wine and fitness are at the heart of so many Chemo Noir events and the latest one for the nonprofit organization, that stives to help people battling cancer by providing financial assistance, revolves around those two once again.

The nonprofit’s new event is Cycle For Cancer, which will be held Dec. 2 starting at Casa Marina and taking place along Jacksonville Beach.

As the name implies, the fundraising event will be highlighted by people riding their beach cruisers up and down the shoreline as part of a five-mile ride.

Check-in for the ride will be at Casa Marina beginning at 7 a.m. with the ride set for 7:30 a.m. A minimum $250 donation is required to join in on the ride, and every rider will get a limited-edition hat commemorating the inaugural event.

Chemo Noir has set a fundraising goal of $20,000 for the ride.

One of the most interesting aspects of the ride is that if someone wants to take part to help the cause but does not have a bike of their own, some beach cruisers will be available to use without any additional charge if needed.

However, participants are encouraged to bring their own bike if possible.

Coffee and mimosas will be available for all who participated to enjoy as part of the post-ride festivities in the courtyard at Casa Marina, and awards will be handed out to the top three donors of the event.

Donations can be made in a one-time payment or friends and family can help a person reach their total by that person going to secure.givelively.org/donate/chemo-noir-inc/cycle-for-cancer-2023 and clicking on the “I want to fundraise for this” tab to setup a special page connected to them where others can go to donate to help them reach their registration goal.

This is not the first time Chemo Noir has promoted the importance of having an active lifestyle as part of their fundraisers, as their annual one mile & tasting event, also along Jacksonville Beach’s sandy shores.

The one-mile run has been a staple since Katrin Casey started the nonprofit after confronting cancer herself in 2014, and she has partnered with other cycling fundraisers in the past.

As a former athlete herself, having played soccer in college, promoting healthy lifestyles just seemed like a perfect fit and it is a major reason why it is a major part of Chemo Noir’s philanthropic mission.
