Jacksonville’s first cold-pressed juice bar, Watts Juicery, will be opening to the public Saturday, Sept. 26.
The juice bar will be serving a variety of fresh, organic, unpasteurized, cold-pressed fruit and vegetable juices, elixir shots and cleanse packages. The majority of the organic produce will be sourced locally from farms in Jacksonville and St. Augustine, and also from Beaches Emergency Ministry Assistance’s (BEAM) Grace Garden.
Watt’s Juicery is owned by Annie Tuttle who was inspired to open a cold-pressed juice bar in the Jacksonville market after visiting one in another state. It was also a way to pay tribute to her mother, who developed breast cancer.
“It was a two-part thing,” Tuttle said of deciding to open a juice bar. “I was in a juice bar in another city and I thought, this is great and Jacksonville really needs one,” she said. “That along with, my background, my mom had breast cancer for 16 years and took really, had real expensive treatments, but she wasn’t expected to survive as long as she did and she did that by doing the treatments but also by eating healthy, taking care of her body and she constantly pushed it at me… I thought what a better way to pay tribute and honor to my mom, than open what Jacksonville already needs.”
Cold-pressed juice is thought to preserve more antioxidants and nutrients than any other type of juicing available, and the process of juicing really packs in the fruits and veggies. With a 16 ounce juice bottle, you’re basically getting three pound of fruits and vegetables, Tuttle said.
The juice will be made and bottled fresh in the store with a convenient grab-and-go system. There will be two sizes available, a 16 ounce bottles are $9, and kids-size 8 ounce bottles are $5. All of the juices are 100 percent organic.
As another way to honor her mother’s memory, Watt’s Juicery will be selling a special 26.2 Wattage Juice where one dollar of the proceeds from every bottle purchased will be donated to The Donna Foundation to help local women battling breast cancer. A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of one of the kid’s juices will be donated to PedsCare.
During opening day, tastings will be offered at different times of the day, and there will also be some giveaways and other promotional things going on throughout the day.
Watt’s Juicery is located at 1010b Third St. N., Jacksonville Beach, directly behind Mellow Mushroom and Salt Life.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
