Local authors to discuss new book on actor’s films at screenings
The Corazon Cinema and Café will honor horror film legend Sir Christopher Lee June 9-15 with a weeklong showing of two of his films and presentations by authors of a new book celebrating his cinematic legacy.
St. Augustine author Robert Pohle and his daughter and co-author Rita Pohle Baldwin will be on hand throughout the week to discuss “The Christopher Lee Film Encyclopedia” (2017, Rowman & Littlefield). The newly published book features a foreword by Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, with whom Lee collaborated on five films: “Sleepy Hollow,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Dark Shadows” and “The Corpse Bride.”
The tome is Robert Pohle’s second on the legendary star. In 1983, he authored “The Films of Christopher Lee” (Scarecrow Press) with Lee himself.
Screenings and discussions
During the week, the Corazon will offer multiple screenings of two of Lee’s films: “The Fellowship of the Ring” from the popular “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and “Horror Express.” The Pohles will be on hand to discuss their book at the following times:

Thursday, June 15 at 11:30 a.m.
In a film career that spanned eight decades, Sir Christopher Lee portrayed iconic characters in some of the screen’s most popular franchises, from Sherlock Holmes and James Bond’s “The Man with the Golden Gun” to “Star Wars” and “Lord of the Rings.” Yet it was his appearances in numerous classic horror films as the mummy, Frankenstein monster and most famously, as Dracula, for which he is best remembered.
