JAGA looks to improve impact with “FRIENDS” campaign

In keeping with its desire to elevate its impact, effectiveness and scholarship giving, the Jacksonville Area Golf Association is embarking on its first-ever fundraising campaign called “FRIENDS of JAGA”.

Funds raised will be used to meet the growing costs and demands associated with running a nonprofit, to support and enhance the impact, look and capabilities of JAGA, and allow the organization to further grow.

At the end of the year, a portion of proceeds from the program will be earmarked for JAGA’s scholarship program, and potentially other entities it has close ties to.

“Since its founding in 1954, JAGA has made significant contributions to the growth and promotion of golf while providing financial assistance to hundreds of college-bound students in Northeast Florida,” Adams said. “For the most part, this success has been achieved with limited solicitation appeals to Jacksonville-area businesses and individuals. The leadership of JAGA feels very strongly that the time is right to be proactive and do what most other golf and non-profit organizations do and that is grow their business and their impact by seeking new means of financial support.”

Anyone who wishes to become a “FRIEND of JAGA” may do so by committing to a minimum gift of $25. Those who contribute $100 or more will receive one premium Coreline personalized bag tag. Additional donations would be much appreciated.

The announcement of the campaign was made March 29 and on behalf of JAGA’s Executive Committee, JAGA president Jeff Adams honored one of North Florida’s most recognized and respected members of its golf community, Fred Seely, as the first person to be named a “FRIEND of JAGA.”

Among Seely’s many contributions to area golf, include being a three-term president of JAGA (1983, 2016, 2017) and founder of the Underwood Cup.

“I’m happy to become the first person to publicly pledge my support for the FRIENDS program,” Seely said. “I believe in what JAGA stands for and fully appreciate the need for JAGA to launch this fundraising effort for the greater benefit of JAGA and those it serves.”
