For the second year in a row, and third time overall, the Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach Ladies Golf Association has won the Jacksonville Area Summer Team League Championship by defeating Queen’s Harbor Yacht & Country Club by a score of 28 – 26 points at Sawgrass Country Club on Thursday, Aug. 15.

The Summer League is comprised of 27 clubs competing in a three team, Four-Ball Match Play format between June and August. There are five area winners and three wildcard spots, creating an eight-team playoff, which Plantation qualified for by clinching the top wildcard position.

“Winning two consecutive titles, especially after beating King and Bear in the first round of the playoffs, pulling off a tie-breaker in the semi-final match against San Jose Country Club and a total team effort in the final against Queen’s Harbor, was a pure adrenaline rush for all of us,” PLGA Summer Team Captain Carol Williams said. “Joy, excitement, pride and relief was felt by every woman on the PLGA squad, whether they played in the matches or not. We had tremendous support from our membership and it really made the difference in the competition. We’re looking forward to next year already.”
