A Vermont resident was taken to Baptist Beaches Hospital last Thursday with a reported shark bite received while wading in the water in Ponte Vedra Beach.
According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office report, David Cassetty was walking in knee-deep water near the Sawgrass Beach Club at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 25 when he felt something bite his left ankle. He reportedly looked down to see a shark biting his leg, at which time bystanders helped him out of the water and called 911.
Cassetty was treated at the hospital for a four-inch bite to the leg.
