Several area students have been recognized for their academic success at their respective colleges and universities.
Local residents graduate from Furman University
The following graduated May 7 from Furman University:
- Cameron Gunn of Jacksonville, summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences with a minor in poverty studies.
- Sydney Spires of Ponte Vedra Beach, magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in sustainability science and English, literature and language track, with a minor in women's, gender and sexuality studies.
Graduations
- Joshua Crandall of Ponte Vedra Beach graduated in May from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical sciences.
- Cole Groseclose of Ponte Vedra graduated in May from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in business degree, majoring in business economics.
- Julie Fisher Phipps of Ponte Vedra Beach received a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington and Lee University on May 26. Phipps majored in business administration and Spanish.
- Nathan Webb of St. Augustine graduated summa cum laude from Upper Iowa University in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in information systems.
Local students named to RIT's dean's list
The following local residents have been named to the dean's list at Rochester Institute of Technology for the spring 2022 semester:
- Joshua Crandall of Ponte Vedra Beach. Crandall is in the biomedical sciences program.
- Andrea Vega of Ponte Vedra. Vega is in the applied arts and sciences program.
- Sophia Williams of St. Augustine. Williams is in the sociology and anthropology program.
- Xavier Flores of St. Augustine. Flores is in the design and imaging technology program.
- Ryker D'Angelo of St. Augustine. D'Angelo is in the English program.
- Kilian Jakstis of St. Augustine. Jakstis is in the computational mathematics program.
Academic Honors
- MacKenzie Williams of St. Augustine has been named to the Emory & Henry College spring 2022 dean's list.
- Dominic Muraco of St. Augustine was named to Montclair State University's spring 2022 dean's list. Muraco is a psychology major.
- The following students have been named to the dean's list at the Georgia Institute of Technology for spring 2022: Sarah Fraga of Ponte Vedra Beach, Sabrina Berman of St. Augustine, David Gonzalez of St. Augustine.
- The following students received faculty honors for spring 2022 at the Georgia Institute of Technology: Kaitlin Evans of Ponte Vedra and Jameson Gatewood of Ponte Vedra Beach. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have earned a 4.0 academic average for the semester.
