The Florida Theatre will present the third season of its storytelling series, “Untold Stories,” with the first performance, “Untold Stories – Fall,” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9, at the Florida Theatre in downtown Jacksonville. Individual show and season tickets are available at floridatheatre.com or 904-355-2787. Patrons who purchase season tickets will receive a 25% discount.

The schedule is: Nov. 9 — Fall Theme, Feb. 15 — Winter Theme, May 30 — Spring Theme and July 11 — Summer Theme.

Those who are members of the Florida Theatre at the Cameo level and up will receive two complimentary tickets to each quarterly performance. The storytellers for “Untold Stories — Fall” are Jasmine Chanae, Ron Rothberg, Drew Brown, Allison Galloway-Gonzalez, Eva Grayzel and Reign Supreme. Music curation by Willie Evans Jr.

Honoring the tradition of oral storytelling in a modern context, “Untold Stories” showcases six local storytellers in quarterly thematic story evenings featuring personal and transformative tales told by a diverse range of voices, both natives and residents of Northeast Florida.

A casting call went out on Sept. 1. North Florida residents can still apply to become a cast member of “Untold Stories.” For information, go to floridatheatre.com/events/untold-stories.

“Untold Stories” is a project of the nonprofit Florida Theatre. The 2023-24 season of “Untold Stories” is curated by Artistic Director Barbara Colaciello of BABS’LAB.

“‘Untold Stories’ is not an open mic night,” said Numa Saisselin, president of the Florida Theatre. “It is a professionally curated evening of storytellers whose work has been thematically organized to make a compelling and entertaining evening. That said, everyone is local, and all the storytellers come from different backgrounds and experiences. They’re you and me.”

“These evenings are not merely a collection of individual stories but rather a cohesive whole, akin to a series of mini plays, taking the audience on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, from laughter to tears, from introspection to inspiration,” said Colaciello. “Something new this season is that our musical guests will create a soundscape throughout, intertwining the magic of music with the power of storytelling.”
