EarthWise Pet Supply, a leading supplier of all-natural pet food and products, is now open in Jacksonville Beach, offering pet lovers a wide range of all-natural, high-quality pet food, products and services. Located in the South Beach Regional Shopping Center (between Stein Mart & Big Fish Yoga), the Jacksonville Beach location is the first EarthWise store to open in Northeast Florida. Currently, there are more than 30 EarthWise locations across the country, including four other stores in Florida: Gainesville, Valrico, Naples and Tallahassee.
The owners of the new Jacksonville Beach store said they were drawn to opening an EarthWise location because it offered an innovative way to combine two of their passions.
“We’ve always loved animals — we have two cats, Samson and Sheffield,” said Valerie Costello, a former school teacher who owns the store with her husband, Dan. “We also enjoy being active and healthy. Good nutrition and exercise are just as important for our pets as they are for us.”
In addition to offering a superior level of customer service — all of the employees receive extensive training in the store’s pet food, products and animal nutrition — Costello said EarthWise’s all-natural focus is what sets it apart from other pet stores.
“EarthWise pet food is free of corn, wheat, soy and byproducts and contains no artificial fillers or preservatives,” Costello said. “The food consists of only the best ingredients, including meat and poultry free of antibiotics, steroids and hormones.”
All of the meat and ingredients, she added, are obtained from well-respected farms in the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Europe. “Our farmers are held to the highest standards,” she said, “and we research our suppliers carefully.”
EarthWise also offers in-store pet grooming services for all types of dogs and even cats. All of the shampoos, conditioners and grooming products are all-natural and free of parabens and harsh chemicals.
“Many pets have allergies, skin issues or anxiety that make grooming a stressful experience for both the pet and the owner,” Costello said. “By using only all-natural products, skin issues and allergies are not exacerbated.”
The grooming area’s one-way mirror also lets owners observe their pet being groomed without upsetting their dog or cat, she added.
For those who prefer to bathe and groom their pet themselves — but don’t want to deal with the mess and hassle at home — EarthWise offers pet self-wash stations in their stores. Complete with waist-high tubs and all-natural products, the self-wash service starts at $15.
“Our self-wash stations are a great option for people who like to bring their pets to the beach,” Costello said. “No more worrying about your pet tracking sand and mud into the house — just drop in here on your way home from the beach, give them a quick wash and you’re good to go.”
Future plans for the Jacksonville Beach store include offering home delivery to local customers as well as holding rescue events in partnership with local shelters to encourage pet adoption.
