The 2019 Wild Amelia Nature Festival celebrating Amelia Island’s wild and wonderful natural treasures will be held May 17-19.
The three-day festival will feature more than 30 family-friendly events, conservation exhibitors and outdoor experiences throughout Amelia Island. Festival schedule highlights include the release of a rehabilitated sea turtle to its ocean home on Main Beach in partnership with the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, and a sunset nature cruise exploring the intracoastal ecosystem with Amelia River Cruises.
The festival also includes nature walks, kayak tours, shrimping demonstrations, sailing lessons, a bat trek and other eco-tour nature encounters, along with an eco-expo with conservation exhibitions, a kid’s niche with a touch tank, a silent auction fundraiser, live music and more.
Wild Amelia is a group of volunteers who wish to protect the natural habitat remaining on Amelia Island, a barrier island in Northeast Florida, and its surrounding areas. They are a group of nature-minded citizens that works to educate residents and visitors about this bioregion through events and programs designed to educate and entertain, while promoting a conservation ethic. Wild Amelia is a 501(c)3 non-profit run entirely by volunteers. Events are offered to the public at no cost (other than photography classes).
