Bolles grads create unique student athlete platform

Luke Stenson and Wyatt Porch recently launched TheAthleteCheck.com, a first-of-its-kind readiness and identity platform built specifically for student athletes.

Stenson and Porch both graduated from The Bolles School in 2025 and are both now active Division I college athletes.

TheAthleteCheck.com gives athletes a framework to understand their own readiness and identity.

Stenson and Porch grew up playing sports and have a good understanding of the struggles athletes face.

“Athletes are constantly told to perform, but we're rarely given the tools to actually understand where we stand — how ready we really are, how to build the mental side and what happens when the game eventually ends,” said Stenson.

The Athlete Check is structured around three core values, knowing your edge, having an iron mind mentality and preparing for life after sports.

Stenson and Porch believe that being a complete athlete is about a lot more than physical training and that student-athletes are more than just athletes. They want to give student-athletes the tools, resources and support to succeed both in sports and in life.

One of the toughest parts about being a student-athlete is the mental aspect, and Porch said if The Athlete Check helps even one athlete that would be enough.

“What really makes me happy is knowing that even one student-athlete is more prepared for the struggles I went through. That’s the whole point of this for us,” he said.

Stenson and Porch both went through the IronMind Summer Internship Program in Jacksonville Beach. They built The Athlete Check from the inside out because they understood the struggles on a personal level.

“This wasn’t built by a tech company. It was built by two young men who are still competing at the Division I level and know exactly what student-athletes are carrying,” said Kenny Stoddart, founder and CEO of IronMind Advisors.

Student-athletes can visit TheAthleteCheck.com and take a 40-question assessment to help them get a better understanding of how ready they are for life after sports.

Stenson and Porch both agreed that this is something they wish had been around sooner, and they are hoping it helps.

“We dealt with a lot of the same challenges, and we didn’t want other student-athletes to have to go through those same things blind. We wanted to give them a head start, something neither of us really had,” said Porch.
