Brookdale Southside, a Jacksonville senior living community, hosted a special event on April 22 in honor of Earth Day where the community celebrated its brand-new Garden Club.
The Brookdale Garden Club kicked off the spring in March when it took over a newly dedicated space on the property and placed garden beds with various vegetables.
The new space was showcased during the event as they also enjoyed their first harvest of the season, which was its crop of radishes.
According to Jay Wilke, senior publicist for Brookdale Senior Living, one of the members was looking forward to her favorite sandwich, which included radishes, peanut butter and lettuce.
