Chamber Ambassadors teams with Fostering Connections

Posted

Recently two dynamic local community groups worked together toward a better community. One is a nonprofit begun by Aubrie Simpson-Gotham called Fostering Connections. The other is the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.

The Ambassadors are the volunteer arm of the Chamber. Its members often serve as the public face of the Chamber at community events such as ribbon-cuttings, Chamber events and networking groups.

Each year at least four local Chamber nonprofits are targeted for help by the Ambassadors. The most recent beneficiary is Fostering Connections. Simpson-Gotham conceived of the nonprofit when she was training in the education field.

She noticed that those in the foster care system often required additional materials and attention to function at their best. With that in mind she eventually founded her group to try and create a central place where those in the foster system could find the services and physical goods they need.

Simpson-Gotham has expanded her reach to several North Florida counties.

To help Fostering Connections, the Ambassadors gathered items ranging from gift cards and money to diapers and kitchen essentials, including foods.
