Christ Church Preschool is an important part of the Ponte Vedra community, and this year they are celebrating their 70th anniversary.
Christ Church Preschool began as a mission for the church to provide a “Mother’s Morning Out” for moms in 1955. It has evolved into a thriving, nurturing and developmentally rich independent preschool for children 12 months to kindergarten.
Christ Church Preschool serves families in Ponte Vedra Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach as well as Nocatee and areas west of the beaches.
Christy Maurer has been head of school at Christ Church Preschool since March 2025.
Blacker Hall, the newly renovated preschool building, was named after Janet Blacker who served as head of school for 30 years.
Maurer said their program helps to develop every part of their students.
“Our dedicated staff thoughtfully designs and implements programs that nurture the whole child: socially, emotionally, spiritually and academically. Our high-quality learning experiences emphasize development through play, meaningful social interactions, and fun, engaging activities. We provide art, music, Spanish, library, and PE resource classes, and we have two chapel services a week where students sing and learn Bible stories,” said Maurer.
There are several events that have become traditions at Christ Church Preschool that the families and students look forward to every year. These events include Fall Family Fun Night, Grandparents Day, three Christmas programs, an Easter Bunny Parade and Graduation for students in Kindergarten and Pre-K 4.
“We believe children should eagerly look forward to school, and that their earliest years of education should be filled with joy, growth and wonder,” said Maurer.
During the summer months, Christ Church Preschool is open Tuesday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon.
