Dialogue topic for writers’ meeting

Memorable dialogue can elevate a good book to greatness. But those compelling lines don’t happen by accident. They are crafted in ways that drive the plot and reveal character. Award-winning author Joni M. Fisher offers 10 practical techniques to elevate your dialogue in her workshop, “Writing Quotable Dialogue,” at the Ponte Vedra Writers meeting at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. Fisher’s workshop covers the following ways to take dialogue from serviceable to memorable:

  • Infuse each scene with the right level of conflict
  • Discover when and when not to use dialogue
  • Employ text and subtext
  • Create suspense
  • Transform the predictable

Joni M. Fisher writes award-winning, suspenseful stories that explore themes of friendship, family, faith and crime. Her books have won awards in the Kindle Book Awards, Reader’s Favorite Book Awards, Christian Indie Book Awards, Next Generation Indie Book Awards, and others. The July 12 Ponte Vedra Writers meeting is free and open to the public.
