Nonprofit ElderSource’s new Sharing and Caring Closet will accept consumable medical supplies for local seniors in need during a two-day “Shop & Drop” event Dec. 8 and 9 at its Mandarin headquarters. Visitors can drop off donated items at ElderSource from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Please note that food and clothing items are not being accepted for the closet.
“We have been receiving a number of requests from seniors and their caregivers for items that are very expensive and often not covered by insurance,” said Linda Levin, CEO of ElderSource. “The Sharing and Caring Closet will officially open to the public in January and be in operation year-round with donations accepted during our regular business hours.”
The ElderSource building is located at 10688 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville in Mandarin. Those needing supplies may call ElderSource at 904-391-6600 to request items and to donate.
ElderSource is a local nonprofit organization designated by the state as the Area Agency on Aging and Aging and Disability Resource Center for Northeast Florida. The agency provides information and referral resources for caregivers and seniors in Northeast Florida, reaching more than 12,000 people in its seven-county service area — Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns and Volusia.
Programs and services are funded by federal, state and local grants as well as private donations and endowments.
