In Loving Memory of Judith “Judy” Schulze

Judith “Judy” Elizabeth Schulze (née O’Donnell) went to be with our Lord at the age of 87 on November 23, 2023, at McGraw Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida. Born in Monroe, Wisconsin on May 2, 1936, to the late Francis James O’Donnell and the late Norah Irene O’Donnell (née Mani), Judy was blessed with a life filled with the love of family and friends.

In 1954, at the age of 18, Judy married the love of her life, Frederick Killian Schulze, in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Together, they lived a life full of adventure; whether boating, camping, rock climbing, or traveling the world, they never had a dull moment — a spirit that transcends generations and continues in the lives of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Fred and Judy shared a beautiful journey together for 56 years until his passing in 2011. Their love and commitment were an inspiration to all who knew them, and their family finds solace knowing that they are together again, reunited for eternity in heaven.

Judy was a remarkable woman who lived a fulfilling life as a cherished wife and mother, beloved sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and integral member of her community. Known for her social nature and vibrant spirit, Judy loved to entertain for any occasion, filling her home with the laughter of friends and family, and irresistible aromas from the kitchen. When she wasn’t entertaining, one could find Judy playing bridge or participating in various community activities. In her moments of independence, Judy loved to express her creativity through hobbies such as knitting, needlework, painting, and gardening.

Judy will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her son, Frederick James Schulze (Kris) of Eagan, Minnesota, her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Haack (Russell) of Egg Harbor, Wisconsin, her daughter, Mary Leigh Van Sistine (Peter) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, her son, Daniel Killian Schulze (Stephanie) of Melissa, TX, and her brother, Lt. Col. John O’Donnell (Barbara) of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Judy is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Sara Anne Eberle (Ryan), Kevin Russell Haack (Katelyn), Nicholas Peter Van Sistine (Molly), Shannon Rae Schulze, Lindsay Elizabeth Fitzpatrick (Jimmy), Miles Christian Schulze, Alexander Killian Schulze, Hannah Hiller Schulze, and nine great-grandchildren: Thomas, Kellan, Miles, Annabelle, James, Marina, Daisy, Peter, and another baby due in February.

Judy was preceded in death by her son Thomas Carl Schulze, her husband Frederick Killian Schulze, her brother James Michael O’Donnell, and her beloved dog Charlie Mozart, who was a loyal source of comfort and companionship. Their memories will forever be cherished by those who loved them.

A Funeral Mass to honor Judy's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 545 A1A N #545, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, 32082. A Memorial Service and burial will be held in early summer 2024 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Waukesha, Wisconsin. https://denvercatholic.org/thanksgiving-and-the-paradox-of-death/
