Celebrate summer in style at the Lightner Museum with an inaugural cocktail hour beginning Thursday July 28, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Lightner Museum moves from spotlighting the Gilded Age to highlighting contemporary times with the museum’s new and exciting monthly cocktail hour aptly named Lightner After Hours. Kick start your weekend with this free event featuring specialty hors d’ oeuvres and beverages, available at happy hour prices from Café Alcazar. A variety of musicians will perform monthly.

July’s inaugural cocktail hour will provide guests an opportunity to view the America’s Parks exhibition after hours.

Lightner After Hours will continue the last Thursday of every month from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom Gallery, 75 King Street, St. Augustine, Fl 32084. Café Alcazar, located in the Historic Pool area of the museum will be open with a specialty dinner menu from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free parking is available after 5 p.m.

“The museum is focusing on adding new programs and events in an effort to bring a more diverse audience to the museum.  Lightner After Hours is a step in this direction and emulates what many of the museums in large cities are doing.” – Robert W. Harper, Director

Future goals for Lightner After Hours include bringing a broad range of musicians into the space and inspiring guests to create their own experiences through social media challenges and other interactive activities.

“The museum's providing more popular culture events and exhibits like Lightner After Hours to appeal to millennials and young professionals.”
