Learn to navigate Kindle Direct Publishing

Posted

Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) has become the go-to publishing platform for independent authors, but new writers, particularly those not technically inclined, may find the process confusing.

Eric “Doc” Honour will make the KDP publishing process easier with his workshop “Navigating Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP)” at the next meeting of the Ponte Vedra Writers, on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library at 11 a.m.

While Amazon doesn’t disclose publication figures, estimates suggest approximately 7,500 Kindle eBooks are published daily. Do the math. That’s about 2.7 million annually. Among the reasons for KDP’s popularity are the tools and structures the site has created to publish eBooks, paperbacks and hardcovers.

Honour will walk writers through the publishing process, demonstrating how the use of ordinary tools like Microsoft Word and Canva can provide internal formatting, uploading, metadata and covers.

Honour is a self-described iconoclast, polymath and award-winning author. He’s been a Navy pilot, an international leader in systems engineering and a successful entrepreneur. With a Ph.D. from the University of South Australia, he led large teams to build complex systems. His three published books and more than 30 short stories reflect his broad real-life experience.
